Summer Day

Coconut oil, sunscreen sweat
Skin glistening slick warm

Fringe plastered to face, stuck
Eyes squint to the sun
Lonely sunglasses left at home
 

Blue cloudless sky
Sun bright and high
So large and free
Outlined around the green trees

Crystal clear water waves in the breeze
Smell salty brine mixed with seaweed
Slick rocks, worn away
Eroded by time
 

Fall asleep to the soundtrack of waves
Cocooned and warmed
Enveloped by the sun’s rays

Ultraviolet sun light
Sun dips slow at days end
Kisses the horizon leads us gently into night
